Pine Wilt Disease - Revisited

If you have been out on either golf course in the past week you probably noticed that we had to remove 3 large Scots Pine trees. These were very stately, beautiful trees that got this ugly disease and we had to remove them. On the North course there was one on the right side of the hole by the green. On the South course we lost one by #5 tee and one on the right side of #8 fairway.

Here is a photo of one of the stump on #8 South. Again you can see the tell tale sign of the nematode - the blue stain that plugs up the vascular system of the tree.
