From the Golf Course

Greetings Des Moines Golf and Country Club Members:
With the North Course (9 holes) renovation now approaching, we want to take this opportunity to share some important information regarding Permanent Tee Times, golf course construction, aerification and score posting.

Permanent Tee Times: The final day of Permanent Tee Times will be Sunday, August 18. Final percentages will then be computed and submitted to each individual.

Course Renovations: Starting on Monday, August 19, we will have 27 holes open through the end of the year and will move back to the East Range. All 18 holes on the South course will remain open as well as holes 10-14 and 6-9 on the North course to be played in that order. The following is a schedule of how tee times will be organized in the coming weeks:
Monday : South Course only. Tee times will start at noon.
Tuesday – Friday: Tee times on the South Course can be made as normal. Players can make a tee time and a turn time on the North Course (play holes 10-14, 6-9 twice). Both golf courses will open at 7:30 A.M.
Saturday – Sunday: During the weekends of August 24-25 & August 31-September 2 (Labor Day), we will have three nine’s designated as A, B, & C. (Front South – A, Back South – B, North 9 – C). Tee times will be in blocks from 7:00 -9:00 A.M, with a crossover period of 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. (no tee times during the crossover). The crossover will work as follows: A (front South) with turn to B (back South); B (back South) will turn to C (North 9); C (North 9) will turn to A (front South). Starting at 1:00 p.m. tee times will start again on the South and the nine holes on the North. Player’s playing the North in the afternoon can make a tee time and a turn time as there will be no afternoon crossover. After Labor Day and aerification of the North 9, we will not do crossovers on the weekends.

Aerification: Starting on Tuesday, September 3, the North 9 will be aerified. Keeping with tradition, Des Moines Golf and Country Club is CLOSED this day. The staff will finish aerifying the North 9 on Wednesday, September 4 and it will reopen on Thursday, September 6.
Other Information: Five-somes will be allowed on the golf courses starting September 4. All players in a 5-some must be riding in a golf cart! Starting October 15, groups of more than 5 will be permissible.
Score Posting: Starting August 19, players may choose to turn in their scorecards to the golf shop to be posted. The Iowa Golf association will rate the A, B, & C course rotations to allow posting. If you choose to have the staff post for you, please indicate what rotation you played and have your scores totaled to avoid discrepancies.

Sincerely,

Scott Howe & Rick Tegtmeier
