From the PGA Championships

Mitchell Meyer, 1st Assistant on the South Course is working on the maintenance staff this week at the PGA Championships at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.
I will be posting Mitch's comments, emails and photos here all week.

From Mitch on Sunday Night:

I got here about 3:15 today and got checked in and got my credentials ahead of our 4:00 orientation. The team I am on is called the "ProGreens Team." As a ProGreens volunteer, our main responsibility is the checking of green speeds with a stimp meter.

There are two of us to a group and we will work with the same two greens mowers all week on the same two holes of the golf course (assuming there aren't any major weather issues). We will take a stimp reading, radio it in to an assistant superintendent who will give us a course of action as far as additional mowing or rolling.

We then direct our greens mowers and rollers on what they need to do after they're initial mow and roll. I will be taking care of 2 greens #11 and #15.
